Create a new wildlife habitat

Come and have a fun day or even a whole weekend with Protect Earth in a beautiful part of the country! The landowners are offering free meals and free accommodation for volunteers. See below for accommodation details.

What is happening?

This farm is a large (18 hectare) site comprising a wide mixture of habitats including grassland, scrub, hedgerows, woodland and ponds. It is already good for wildlife – but the landowners would like to make it even better by creating more habitat. With Protect Earth’s help the landowners want to plant another 1400 native broadleaf trees on this occasion. Next year we hope to create a new wildlife corridor and a wildflower meadow here.

We appreciate volunteers who are able to come for part of the day, a whole day or even the whole weekend, and children are welcome. We love it when the local community gets involved in their area, and also welcome guests from further away. It allows us to make new friends, catch up with friends we've made, and learn what people love about their communities while talking to them about enriching local biodiversity.

There are pubs nearby in Manaccan and Helston for lunch and dinner on Friday and Monday. Nights offered are Friday, Saturday, Sunday, Monday. Tree planting is Saturday and Sunday only, leaving you a free day in Cornwall if you want to stay on Monday night. You will need to contact us to book accomodation and inform us of any dietary requirements when you book your event tickets. Please let us know which nights you want to stay.

What happens Protect Earth needs to cancel?

Bad weather is difficult to plan for. In general, we will continue to plant if it’s raining, but if it’s looking dangerous e.g. named storms, or the ground is frozen, we will have to cancel an event. We will try and notify you as soon as we possibly can, and you’ll be invited to the rescheduled event.
