The sites for the forests are on a thin strip of greenbelt between the village of Ickleford and Hitchin’s industrial area. The landowner has opened the space up to the public and is improving facilities for more access. The changes for public use are ongoing and include:
allotments
orchards
cycle paths
dog walking routes
plans for a pet cemetery
The site has a disused railway running through it with a thin strip of wild woodland populating the space. Two of our sites are next to the railway to increase the depth and biodiversity of woodland. A chalk stream runs through the property which looks in good condition. Over the past few visits to the site, I noticed many locals using the space for walks and were all complimentary toward Dream For Trees plan to plant more trees.
